Plunger Lift Anomaly: Leaking Motor Valve

Leaking Motor Valve

Ambyint’s Platform is designed to flag anomalies in well behavior and operating conditions enabling users to identify deviations which could result in incorrect optimization responses, production lost/deferred, or a more costly operational issue.  The anomaly detection components of Ambyint’s InfinityPL leverages artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to recognize patterns in the data much like any production engineer would while performing recurring well surveillance.

Leaking Motor Valve - The Leaking Valve anomaly is designed to detect situations where a valve may not be fully closing, allowing unintended flow during periods when the well should be shut in. Under normal conditions, when the valve is closed, no flow should be occurring.  The Ambyint system monitors the well's behavior across recent cycles and looks for consistent signs of flow during these closed periods. If this happens frequently, it's a strong indication that the control valve may be leaking or failing to seal properly. If the valve is found to be consistently allowing flow when it shouldn’t, this anomaly will be triggered, so you can investigate and take corrective action. This anomaly gives you early insight into mechanical wear or valve integrity issues, helping reduce unplanned downtime and optimize maintenance schedules.
