Ambyint uses a 3rd party product to watch how users interact with its solutions. The data is typically quite rich showing who is active within our solution, which features garner the most usage, and where there are opportunities for user experience improvements. Each quarter, we hold a product council meeting where we examine this data along with market, sales pipeline, and other information to make strategic product roadmap decisions.
Unfortunately, rich usage data tends to come only in the early days of an E&P company as a customer. Our production optimization solution gathers well data, identifies anomalous behavior, determines optimal setpoint changes, and optionally automates the implementation of those changes. Users often monitor setpoint recommendations when they first engage with our solutions until they are comfortable with them. Once they see the efficacy of those recommendations, they enable auto-accept for all Ambyint-generated recommendations—basically ceding optimization control of their wells. The results are strong with up to 7% production uplift and up to 30% reduction in operating expenses.
Once customers turn on auto-accept, their daily interaction with our solution can diminish. By giving Ambyint optimization control, they attend to other high value activities utilizing our solution when investigating well issues or looking for insights into design improvements. Counterintuitively, the less users interact with aspects of our solutions, the more value they are getting from them.
Ambyint did a 2020 retrospective for one of its customers. Over the course of the year, after approximately 1,500 controller setpoint recommendations that were automatically applied by our InfinityRL product, the customer saw 17% lower strokes per minute overall and 6% higher production on underpumping wells. You can see in the image to the left that users were rather quiet in our solution during that time with a few usage spikes where there were specific analytics needs. It raises the question as to why legacy production optimization solutions require constant user engagement to add value? Interested in getting similar results?
